SENATE DISTRICT 24 — Dr. Sion Roy is announcing the endorsement of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California in his campaign for State Senate District 24. SEIU Represents over 750,000 members in a vast array of careers including nurses, healthcare workers, janitors, social workers, security officers, in-home caregivers, school and university employees, court workers, and city, county and state employees.
The 17 locals across all 58 counties in the state voted Monday night to endorse Dr. Roy for the pivotal state senate seat. Upon receiving news of the endorsement, Dr. Roy said, “Everyday at Harbor UCLA, I work side by side with SEIU members. Throughout California, they help take care of our young and our elderly, they keep our schools and universities running, and they make the machinery of local and state government work on a daily basis. From the beginning, our campaign has been about lifting up working people and saving Medi-Cal and some of the very programs that SEIU members provide. As a proud former CIR SEIU member myself, I am honored and humbled to have the support of SEIU CA, and I look forward to taking the experiences and concerns of SEIU members with me to the State Senate.”

Last week Dr. Sion Roy announced the endorsement of Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, herself a well-known labor champion, as well as California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, CPA. The endorsement of SEIU, one of the largest and most influential unions in California, continues Dr. Roy’s growing roster of support from labor, federal, state, and local elected officials, as well as community leaders.
