SENATE DISTRICT 24 — Right on the heels of announcing the endorsement of Assemblymember Tina McKinnor yesterday, Dr. Sion Roy today announced that California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, C.P.A is the latest state leader to throw their support behind his campaign for Senate District 24.
First elected in 2018, Treasurer Ma won the seat with more votes than any candidate in history. She is the first woman of color and the first female Certified Public Accountant to hold the position, making her tenure all the more historic. In the Assembly she authored 60 bills which were signed into law by two different Governors, including legislation covering everything from banning toxic chemicals in baby products to fighting for domestic violence survivors. She also served as Majority Whip and Speaker pro Tempore, and she worked during CA’s biggest budget crisis to protect public education and expand access to healthcare.
