Union of American Physicians and Dentists Endorse Dr. Sion Roy in SD24 Senate Race

SENATE DISTRICT 24 — The Sion Roy for State Senate campaign is proud to announce the endorsement of the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD). One of the largest unions of its kind, representing over 7,000 public and private practice healthcare professionals, UAPD ensures that these essential workers have a voice in their workplace.

UAPD Executive Director Doug Chiapetta praised Dr. Roy in a statement: “Dr. Sion Roy has not only been an exemplary physician at Harbor-UCLA, but he has been an active UAPD Local 206 member, representing our union at the Los Angeles Federation of Labor. Dr. Roy has not only fought for increasing access to care for the patients our members serve, but he’s been a strong leader as our union has fought for our LA County members’ rights and wages over the years. Dr. Roy is the right choice, right now for Senate District 24, and we are proud to endorse his candidacy.”

“UAPD Local 206 is my union, and I am thrilled to welcome their support and partnership in this campaign,” said Dr. Sion Roy. “I plan to be a strong voice for the medical community in the Capitol, and I know that UAPD will be a big part of that. Additionally, as a union member myself, I understand the importance of organized labor, and as a state senator I look forward to being a strong ally for organized labor and the workers they represent.”

Roy launched his campaign last week with support from Hon. Richard Bloom, as well as the California Medical Association, showing considerable momentum for his campaign. He begins the race with over $200,000 raised, a considerable advantage in the primary field.

Dr. Sion Roy is a physician, professor, and education advocate passionate about improving the lives of all Californians.
