SENATE DISTRICT 24 — Dr. Sion Roy is pleased to announce the endorsement of Representative Ami Bera, M.D. Like Dr. Roy, Rep. Bera is a physician who also became involved in education, becoming the Assistant Dean of the Medical School at the University of California, Irvine. In 2013, Dr. Bera was elected to Congress where he serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
One of the few medical professionals in Congress, Rep. Bera, M.D. recognizes the need for physician voices in legislative bodies, which is one of the reasons he feels so strongly about supporting Dr. Sion Roy.
“Like me, Dr. Sion Roy learned as a doctor that the most important skill you have is your ability to listen to people,” said Rep. Bera. “That’s how you diagnose problems, and that’s how you solve problems. Sion has been listening to people his whole career– as a cardiologist at UCLA Harbor Hospital and as a Trustee at Santa Monica College– and he’s used what he learned to create practical, effective solutions to make people’s lives better. I’m proud to endorse Dr. Sion Roy for Senate District 24, and I look forward to him bringing his skills to the State Capitol.”
“Rep. Bera already had a highly successful career in medicine– both in practice and in medical education– when he first ran for Congress. But he knew that his nation needed his voice in Congress, so he took the enormous decision to run for office. His sense of civic responsibility, and the seriousness with which he approaches every decision, is a model for me and anyone else either serving or running for office. I’m honored to have his support,” said Dr. Roy.
Rep. Ami Bera, M.D’s endorsement follows on the heels of another Congressional endorsement, that of Rep. Dave Min (CA 47).
Dr. Sion Roy is a physician, professor, and education advocate passionate about improving the lives of all Californians.
