SENATE DISTRICT 24 — Dr. Sion Roy’s campaign for Senate District 24 has announced an impressive new slate of endorsements. These include local and statewide elected officials, as well as organizations, all of whom believe that Dr. Roy’s experience makes him uniquely qualified to serve in the State Senate.
Board of Equalization (BOE) Member Tony Vazquez (District 3) was the first Latino Mayor of Santa Monica and has put his support behind Dr. Roy. Board of Equalization Member Vazquez has been a steadfast advocate for smart growth, affordable housing, and economic justice, and he has worked to ensure the BOE supports communities impacted by January’s devastating fires, a top priority for Dr. Roy.
Agoura Hills Mayor Doug Stewart and Malibu Mayor Penny Sylvester, along with former Malibu Mayors Laura Rosenthal, Lou Lamonte, and Paul Grisanti have joined together in their enthusiastic support of Dr. Sion Roy. These Mayors lead their cities even under challenging circumstances, and their endorsement speaks to the confidence they have in Dr. Roy’s ability to both work with them and provide leadership in Sacramento.
Councilmembers have also joined in the support, including four current members of the Santa Monica City Council: Mayor Pro Tem Caroline Torosis, Councilmember Dan Hall, Councilmember Ellis Raskin, and Councilmember Barry Snell.
Lastly, 314 Action Fund, a PAC focused on electing candidates with science backgrounds, has announced that they will back Dr. Sion Roy for Senate District 24. Since their founding, 314 Action Fund has helped elect over 400 endorsed candidates, and they believe that Dr. Roy will be among that group.
“From statewide leaders like BOE Member Vazquez, to Mayors within our district, to those dedicated to bringing science-centered viewpoints to the state legislature, I’m enormously proud of the broad spectrum of support that we have amassed in a short time. As our coalition continues to grow, I remain humbled in the confidence placed in our campaign, and I look forward to communicating our message of building an economy that works for more people, increasing access to quality healthcare and education, and recovering and rebuilding from the devastating January fires.”
