Dr. Sion Roy Launches Campaign For Senate District 24

SENATE DISTRICT 24 — Dr. Sion Roy launched his campaign for State Senate District 24 today. A physician, professor, and education advocate, Dr. Roy has dedicated his career to improving lives in his community.

Dr. Roy serves as a cardiologist at Harbor-UCLA public hospital, and was the youngest-ever President of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Roy’s expertise was sought by legislators to help to guide the region through the COVID-19 pandemic, support public health, and shape sound policy decisions.

Sion currently serves as Vice Chair of the Santa Monica College Board where he has championed healthcare workforce programs like Certified Nursing Assistant & Home Health Aide, and facilitated the opening of SMC’s new 25,000-square-foot Malibu campus.

At launch, Dr. Roy has positioned himself at the head of the pack with over $200,000 raised and will be releasing a lineup of impressive leaders and institutions already standing by his side. One such leader, the Hon. Richard Bloom, who represented Assembly District 50 from 2012-2022, stated:

“Sion Roy is an accomplished public servant. As a physician, he helped lead LA County through the pandemic. On the Santa Monica College Board he has expanded educational opportunities, championed new programs, and worked with state and local legislators on behalf of SMC. Even now, after losing his own home in the Palisades Fire, Sion is determined to help our communities rebuild. I am proud to endorse Dr. Sion Roy for Senate District 24, and I look forward to bringing his leadership to Sacramento.”

-Hon. Richard Bloom, Assemblymember, AD 50 (ret.)

As one of the many who lost their home in the devastating Palisades fire, Dr. Roy is determined to marshall all state and federal resources needed to help his community recover. Dr. Roy and his family are going through the process of rebuilding their lives along with thousands of others, sharing a unique experience that no doubt will be one of the defining issues of this campaign.
