In balloting Wednesday night, Dr. Sion Roy won the endorsement of the Santa Monica Democratic Club (SMDC) with a commanding 77.46% of the vote. Wednesday night’s virtual meeting also set a club record for the most votes cast in its history. The previous Wednesday, SMDC hosted a candidate forum in which Dr. Roy laid out his vision for the district. Concentrating on lowering the cost of living, as well as shoring up the social safety-net and MediCal, Dr. Roy spoke about concentrating on the issues that would affect residents locally.
